Back at it.

So as most of you know Chloe was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in march of '05. She was a trooper through all her treatments, hair loss and all the junk that came a long with it and finished her treatments in May of 2007. We even had a big ice cream party in the neighborhood when she finished to celebrate.

Chloe started to have some pain in her arm this summer but the doctors were not worried about it as it was likely a side effect of coming off the chemo. We brought it up a couple times to them but they though it was no threat. It became intense this last week or two. She was up every night screaming in pain in the crook of her arm. We ended up taking her to the emergency room one night because it was hurting her so bad, they took xrays and found a lump in her arm. They told us something was definately wrong and that we needed to bring her down to PMC to find out for sure. They did an ultra sound on her arm to see what the lumps were. You could actually feel the lumps in her arm. They did a lumbar puncture to test her bone marrow. We waited, and waited. We were in room 10 of the clinic, Dr. Lemons came in to tell us that the leukemia was all over. Paniced in more ways than one I quickly said it is in her spine? We were told at the beginning in 05, if it is in the spine it will go to the brain and that is bad. He quickly went out to check, he came back to our relief that it was not in the spine. He needs to work on his demeanor, please he talks so fast you have to ask him twice or more to understand what he just said. So her cancer is back. It was a whorl wind of things to do. Loads of information, calls to friends and family, but first in room 10 (in the dark with the door slightly ajar) a quiet moment to cry, and hug each other and encourage Chloe we are a team and are going to fight this. She knows of what is ahead and she cries more. They immediately started her on chemo treatments giving her an injection into her spinal fluid - coincidentally the date was Sept 11th. Other than the great gift of spencer's birth that day... it's kind of known as a sad day, now we have another reason to think of it that way.

So here we are back in the hospital for Round 2, cause the fight is not over like we thought it was Dr Yiesh come in our room when we are settled in our room in ICS unit. He is close to tears. Only 2% of A.L.L patients relapse and he is sad. He was apologetic that they didn't know it was a more aggressive form (we were not told it could've been an aggressive form). But we will move forward, kick this cancer's butt and get it gone. cancer sucks
