This morning when we woke up I was sure we would be able to go home because Chloe had improved quite a bit and her fevers were gone. As soon as I got up a packed up all our stuff, folded up the chair bed and put my bedding away. The Doctors came in and said she was all good and we were going home so we were pretty pleased.
We were hanging out waiting for her IV meds to finish and get our discharge papers when her BMT Doc came back in. She checked Chlo's latest labs one more time to make sure all was good before letting us go and found a new bug that wasn't there before. This one is apparently not a friendly bug and pretty hard ot get rid of. It is a gram negative rod type infection, but they are not sure exactly what it is. I guess it take a couple of days to figure that out - for now they just know the type.
The Doc immediately called the OR asking them to fit her in asap so that her Broviak line can be removed i think as a precaution so that the bug doesn't get to he heart and lungs -at least that was the case when she had the staph infection before. So we're just waiting for a call to know what time her surgury is. She'll have to get meds by IV until the bug is gone, then she will likely have a PICC line put in to continue meds. She is not excited about that at all.
She was real sad to hear we can;t go home, but other than that she is feeling pretty good. Circumstances change quickly, but it could be worse.
