Slacker

I'm taking Stacie's last post as a hint that i need to get on the stick. She asked me to update the blog with a new picture a while ago, but i was too lazy to make a new one so i just grabbed Everest temporarily because it was pretty.

Chloe started her Thiotepa chemo today which is a 4 hr injection. This one is pretty toxic and seeps out through the skin - as Stacie mentioned. So far she is doing pretty well with it and enjoys the baths. She doesn't like all her tubes hanging freely with no bandages on them though. Her friend Claire [who also just had a BMT] sent her some bath soaps, oils and lotions to help her skin feel better after all of the irradiation so we have been getting some good use out of those (thanks Claire and Fam). With several baths a day Chloe smells delightful and my hands are wonderfully soft from helping her.

As Stacie said (i'm repeating this because i've had a couple of people ask me this today), Chloe has developed C-dif again [a digestive system infection], a strep type infection as well as another that is unidentified. She's on antibiotics that will treat all of them and they will not hold up the transplant. They say these infections are common as we all have viruses like these in our body, but when our system is compromised they start to show up and cause problems. So hopefully they have caught them early and they will not cause any issues next week when she really starts to feel the effects of the chemo and irradiation.

She's having a hard time eating much since her menu is limited. Well i should say, the things she will eat -that are acceptable on her diet- are limited. After offering her many things... and a little persuasion, i finally talked her into eating a breadstick and some chocolate pudding.
